What can you do in a 3D world?

Second Life is one example of a 3D online world that has completely opened up the Internet in a new way. Experts are predicting that someday all of the Internet will be 3D and 2D will only play a cameo role. Are you ready for this fully immersive experience? Are you skeptical of the value of a virtual world? In this blog, I share the things I've learned in Second Life since I started exploring in November 2007.

About Lessons from a Second Life

This blog is about the extraordinary experiences to be had in 3D virtual worlds like Second Life. Most of the articles are about Second Life because, as yet, this virtual world is richer and more robust than any other non-game world. There is a misconception that Second Life is about online flirting or just chatting with friends; although it can certainly be about that, it also is about building and scripting amazing things, creating fantastic art, and finding a community of unique and interesting people to learn from and grow with. I think we're getting a glimpse into the future of the Internet; there will be a day when you refer to the old version as the "2D Web".
